about

Ah, the rare Googolplexia BandCamp release that isn't on the Pancake Productions BandCamp!

I guess Daytrotter has recently paywall'd alla the old sessions? I don't really understand what's going on with that, but I realized I didn't even have copies of the recordings from this session. Now I do! Recorded while on the Matt From Bunnygrunt & Googolplexia March (To Certain Doom) Tour 2017, but before said Certain Doom actually occurred (and occur it most certainly did).

I can't be 100% certain that the order presented here was the order in which these tracks were recorded, but I like this sequence, so what's it really matter?

Back then, Daytrotter asked me to send in an image on which they could base the associated artwork, and I did that, and chose a really good photograph, but then they seem to have just based the artwork on the first Google Images result for Googolplexia (at the time--now I'm pretty sure the image I submitted to them is the first result for any search), which was a pretty outdated picture even then. But the productivity of Daytrotter in general must have meant things tended toward the hectic over there, in terms of releases/uploads/everything. And maybe still does? Any disappointment about that is seriously overshadowed by my gratitude that they were able to squeeze me in at all. 'Twas much fun to finally do! Would totally do again someday!

If I can ever determine what their little "essay" about me was, I will add that to here, too.

Googolplexia Missouri

With his electric banjo and ukulele, accordion and trombone kazoo, Robert Severson has crafted Saint Louis, Missouri's Googolplexia into a one-man outsider vaudeville. Severson stomps, claps, and gurgles into the disparate, cobwebbed corners of American music and sometimes beyond. Expect screwball theatrics at their most hand-embroidered. ... more
